New kilometers to EU doors: The Bijača – Kravice sub-section opened

Director of JP Autocest FBiH d.o.o. Mostar (PE Highways FBiH Jsc. Mostar) Ensad Karić and the Federal Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić opened today at the ribbon-curring ceremony the new five kilometers of the highway on Bijača – Kravice sub-section and ten kilometers of rehabilitated regional roads R423 and R424. After 20 months of works worth 56 million KM another project has been successfully completed on which worked domestic companies ŽGP and Hidrogradnja, led by Euro-Asphalt d.o.o. Sarajevo. Within the Bijača – Kravice sub-section the Bijača border crossing has been built.
Noting that the Bijača border crossing was financed with private funds and completed before the deadline, Director Karić announced its official opening next week. "Autoceste FBiH are continuing to build modern highways in Bosnia and Herzegovina. At this pace, our country and its citizens will have 102 kilometers of highway by the end of 2014,“ Karić said.
Expressing his satisfaction that the project fulfilled the promise made to Mayor of Ljubuški Federation, Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić underlined that the reason for the pleasure provided by the fact that local companies participated in the construction. "Saving 6 million KM on this project, the Autoceste FBiH invested the funds in development of the local community and this project serves all of the honor," said Prime Minister Nikšić.
As the representative of the BiH Consortium, Hamed Ramić, director of Euro – Asfalt d.o.o. Sarajevo thanked all the partners and pointed out that the latest technology in construction was applied in this project. "With this project BiH construction has acquired the necessary references which make the local companies become more competitive in other markets," Ramić explained.
Mayor Ljubuški, Nevenko Barbarić, explained that the local community was involved in the project implementation since the beginning and pointed out the importance of the highway for economic development as jobs and investments are what the entire country needs, as well as the municipality. He especially thanked director Karić for acknowledging the needs of the local community by building ten kilometers of the modern regional roads in order to facilitate access to the highway and the border crossing.
On the Bijača – Kravice sub-section, besides the 5 km highway, also 2 overpasses, 3 underpasses, a Center for maintenance and traffic control, frontal toll and a rest site Kravice were built. The road will be officially opened to traffic next week, when the Bijača border crossing will officially start its operation.
